Contra dance doesn’t happen without volunteer energy!
The core organizers of Portland Intown Contra Dance are volunteers—from board members to coordinators of volunteers and artist housing, to event helpers.
VOLUNTEER Each event, we rely on key roles:
Greeters (booked in advance—see below!)
Set up and clean up (just show up and help in person)
We also book helpers for special events and short-term projects.
Be an Event Greeter
DANCE FREE THE NIGHT YOU HELP Greeters welcome folks to Portland Intown Contra Dance events and collect donations. They are helpful and friendly, putting people at ease!
A greeter shift is 45 minutes (about three dances long) at an event. If you’re new to it, a dance manager will train you when you arrive for your shift. We book greeters up to two months in advance and love seeing lots of people volunteer for the role.
